PARFUMS DE MARLY PERCIVAL SHOWER GEL

Percival is the clean, aromatic member of the Parfums de Marly line, built for daytime rather than evening. Mandarin, bergamot, lavender and geranium open it, jasmine, violet, coriander and cinnamon fill the middle, and ambroxan, musk, clearwood, amberwood and balsam fir close it dry. The shower gel washes and rinses like any other, leaving a trace of the scent on clean skin. It suits a morning routine, which is where this particular fragrance belongs anyway. The 50ml bottle is the travel size, and it is also the one most often found in the brand gift sets.

Expert Answers

What does Percival Shower Gel smell like?
It follows the Eau de Parfum — mandarin orange, bergamot, lavender and geranium at the top, jasmine, violet, coriander, cinnamon and hedione through the middle, ambroxan, musk, clearwood, amberwood and balsam fir in the base. In this form the scent is softer than the spray and sits against the skin rather than projecting outward.
How does a shower gel compare with the Eau de Parfum?
It carries the same fragrance at a much lower strength, on skin that has just been washed. That makes it gentler and closer-wearing, and it is the usual way to extend a fragrance without using more of the expensive bottle. It also leaves the skin softer than a spray does.
How should I use it?
Use it on wet skin in the shower, working it into a light lather with your hands or a cloth, then rinse. It is a scented wash rather than a treatment, so it leaves only a trace of the fragrance behind once you have dried off.
Can I layer it with the Percival Eau de Parfum?
Yes, and it is the main reason to own one. Apply this first on clean skin and let it absorb, then spray the Eau de Parfum on the pulse points. The matching base helps the fragrance hold more evenly through the day instead of fading in patches.
How does Percival compare with Layton?
Layton is the sweeter of the two, built on apple and vanilla, and works better in the evening. Percival is drier and cleaner, led by citrus and lavender over a musky amber base, which makes it the easier one for an office or for warm weather.
