LATTAFA VINTAGE RADIO DEODORANT

Vintage Radio is the dry, woody-aromatic Lattafa rather than a sweet one, which makes it an unusually grown-up deodorant. Lavender, sage and bergamot open it clean, plum, palo santo and black pepper fill the middle, and sandalwood, amberwood and oud close it. It is a perfumed deodorant for the underarms, applied as a short burst on dry skin after a shower, not a body mist. At this strength the oud stays well behind the lavender and sandalwood, which is what makes it easy to wear to an office. The 200ml can is the only size listed.

Expert Answers

What does Vintage Radio Deodorant smell like?
It is the same scent as the Eau de Parfum — lavender, sage and bergamot at the top, plum, palo santo and black pepper through the middle, sandalwood, amberwood and oud in the base. A deodorant carries it at a lower strength, so it sits closer to the skin.
Is this a deodorant or an antiperspirant?
It is sold as a perfumed deodorant spray. The point of it is scent and freshness through the day, and it is not marketed as something that reduces sweating, so treat it as a fragranced deodorant rather than a clinical product. If controlling sweat is what you need, buy a dedicated product for that.
How should I use it?
Spray it onto clean, dry underarms from about fifteen centimetres away, a short burst on each side. Let it dry before dressing. Do not use it straight after shaving the area, when the skin is still raw, and keep it off broken or irritated skin.
Can I wear it under the Vintage Radio Eau de Parfum?
Yes, and it is the usual reason to buy the matching deodorant. It puts a light base of the same scent on the skin, and the Eau de Parfum goes over the top on the pulse points, which helps the fragrance stay more consistent through the day. Apply the deodorant first and let it dry.
What is palo santo and what does it smell like?
It is a South American wood, burned traditionally as incense. In fragrance it reads dry, slightly sweet and resinous, somewhere between cedar and incense smoke. In Vintage Radio it bridges the fresh lavender opening and the sandalwood and oud in the base.
